Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 2:00 PM - Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 4:00 PM (ET)
This year's Thunder Over Michigan will feature the Blue Angels, World War II and Vietnam era re-enactors and military vehicle display. There will be a morning WWII battle followed by a Vietnam battle in the early afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday. Friday evening "Thunder Run" vehicle convoy into Belleville!
The Museum will provide Saturday and Sunday military lunch from a WWII field kitchen for the first 250 re-enactors / vehicle owners registered. A Saturday evening meal can be arranged for a modest fee for those units that would prefer to eat on site. No overnight camping - however there will be on site security all night, provided by private security and select re-enactors staying on the grounds.
Troops will be bivouaced in a secure building about 1.5 miles away. The bivouac building is a concrete floored building allowing your unit to set up cots or mats for the overnight stay with a modern bathroom facility. The building will be kept locked during the day on Saturday and re-opened after activities cease on Saturday, allowing all the bedding to stay set up and secure. There will be a reasonable "lights out" in affect, so everyone can get proper rest. If you would prefer to camp, it can be arranged but your camp will not be monitored / secure.
WWII HRS Safety and Authenticty rules will be enforced. For more details, visit http://www.worldwartwohrs.org/. The museum reserves the right to reject participation from anyone that fails to comply with staff directions or for behaviour detrimental to the event.
If you are a miltaria vendor (not T-shirts or other genral or typical novelties), the set up charge is a modest $50 per 10 foot of 'store' frontage right in the re-enactor's camp area, with a chain link fence behind you for security. Email directly to make arrangements.
